Health datasets can fail to fully represent the populations they aim to serve. When certain groups are missing or measured inconsistently, research findings may not generalise, and data-driven tools can perform less well for those groups. Funders such as the NIHR are now requiring researchers to show how they have embedded inclusion and diversity across all stages of research - from study design and recruitment to analysis and dissemination. Embedding these principles, however, poses practical challenges that many researchers are finding difficult to navigate, such as deciding what data to collect, ensuring access and representation, selecting suitable analytical methods, and communicating findings appropriately.

With this survey, we want to identify both the barriers and the enablers to inclusive, data-driven health research so that we can co-develop practical solutions to support researchers in day-to-day practice. 🔗You can find the survey here, it won't take longer than 10 minutes. Fill it in by Wednesday 3rd December (noon UK time).

After the survey closure, we are sharing the results and future directions on an online event on the 9th December at 2pm UK time.
