What does your job as DSxHE Community Manager entail?
I'm here to support DSxHE’s themes and working groups to achieve their aims and ensure the smooth running of meetings and events. You'll also find me doing a lot of the behind the scenes bits and bobs. Reviewing and updating DSxHE documentation, welcoming new members and organisers, coordinating The Dish, posting on social media… and anything else that might need my help! Feel free to get in touch with recommendations, introductions, or just for a little chat!
What should people reach out to you for help with?
Anything community related! Whether it's an event you'd like to see DSxHE run, an article you would like to share, something you're working on that you'd like to promote, or anything else that springs to mind - I'm your gal!
What’s your interest in data science and/or health equity?
I'm actually very new to this world! However, throughout my life the common thread in everything I do has been equality and community. I'm extremely passionate about working out new ways to make communities and practices more accessible to everyone, and this is why I'm so excited to be a part of DSxHE. I've got a lot of learning to do in the realms of data science and healthy equity though, so please send me through anything I might find interesting to get my knowledge flowing!
When not at work you can be found…
Cheering on the best football teams in the world, usually Folkestone Invicta from the side of the pitch and Tottenham Hotspur from in front of the TV screen. If there's no games on though, I'll be hanging out with my cat. His name is Elvis and he loves sitting on my laptop whenever I'm trying to work.
What was your last impulse buy?
A trip to Disneyland Paris. If you ever find yourself on a Zoom call with me you'll be able to play a fun game of 'Spot the Disney Paraphernalia'... I have a slight problem.
What is your favorite board game?
I'm a total board game nerd and have the world's largest display cabinet in my living room filled with my favourites. Currently I'm loving The Isle of Cats, but my all-time favourites are Carcassonne and Splendor.
What is your go-to lazy dinner?
A noodle wrap! Super noodles with ketchup, mayonnaise, sriracha, grated cheese, and chilli flakes, all wrapped up in a tortilla. Don't knock it 'til you try it.
