About the event
Welcome to the DSxHE's Download; our monthly informal, conversational and informative online meetups!
These are open to anyone in the world, no matter what your level of experience and background. They are really just an opportunity to meet fellow DSxHE-ers and learn a few new things :-)
Roll up, roll up! This month we are excited to introduce our speaker Lucien De Voux, CEO of Palindrome Data to discuss "the impact of AI/ML for developing tools in low-resource environments."
Speaker Bio
Lucien aims to personalise experiences by operationalizing AI in demanding, under-resourced environments. He is a creative market strategist, who blends business and technology competencies to achieve results in the risk and high-tech product development domains.
Abstract
Would it surprise you that healthcare providers were over-servicing most patients? Less controversially, we're probably under-servicing only about 20% - 30% of patients.
Providers can't easily anticipate which group a patient falls into and how they will migrate over time (transitioning from being under-serviced to over-serviced throughout their journey).
Predictive analytics and machine learning (ML) are crucial in determining whether a patient is under or over-serviced. Our dynamic modelling can assess the risk of IIT or VL suppression periodically (e.g. at every visit) or when new information on the patient is captured (perhaps they missed an appointment or drug pickup). We have shown that a patient's risk of an interruption in treatment (IIT) doubles as they transition between ML-defined risk groups: low->medium->high.
Don't miss this opportunity to learn, discuss, and share ideas on how technology can make a real difference where it's needed most.
