Roll up, roll up! This month we'll be discussing the Ethnicity, Equity & AI Study led by the PHI Lab. The project has 3 main stages:

1. To organise, assess and describe the ethnicity data available from NHS England patient data, from both primary and secondary healthcare settings 

2. To use the high-quality data collated in the first phase to look at health disparities of COVID-19 for different ethnicities, with a particular focus on heart disease.

3. To create tools for machine learning and data science projects which use ethnicity data, to improve the ability of projects to use data and produce accurate results

We'll chiefly be discussing the outputs from stage I, which has published findings on completeness, detail and inconsistency of ethnicity data, but will be touching on the next two stages too.
