About the event

We are excited for our next Participatory Research webinar series Dr Lidis Garbovan from the UK Longitudinal Linkage Collaboration (UKLLC) to give us a talk titled 'UK LLC Citizen Panel: Novel method for Public Involvement in data access review of linked longitudinal data'

Short description: The Citizen Panel project at UK Longitudinal Linkage Collaboration (UK LLC) is a pilot project that aims to embed public feedback into data access decision-making and Trusted Research Environment (TRE) design. The Citizen Panel is a concept developed by Understanding Patient Data as a new methodological approach to decisions about data via conversations with the public. The approach taken in the UK LLC Citizen Panel is intended to enhance and complement the existing ways in which public involvement is conducted in longitudinal studies, especially focused on maximising diversity and inclusion of seldom-heard communities which are underrepresented in longitudinal studies. The Citizen Panel project is new and creative in the way it is co-designed, together with a Steering Group, involving a small number (15-20) of public members in its pilot phase. In its next phase it will explore approaches to scale up in size (panel with >100 members), and geography (e.g. Citizen Panel groups in four UK nations).

Dr Lidis Garbovan is a Research Fellow Citizen Panel Lead at UK LLC, the University of Edinburgh. Lidis has a PhD in Sociology and Social Anthropology and prior to joining UK LLC she has worked with several Universities on research projects involving diverse communities in the UK and abroad, for instance exploring the experiences of ethnic minorities and migrants with the Covid-19 pandemic. Lidis has a strong experience and interest in researching social inequalities, using participatory and creative and artistic methods.

We are really looking forward to hearing all about their participatory research strategy!
