About the event
Since the pandemic, research has delved into how structural and social determinants accelerated the spread of disease and higher morbidity and mortality rates. These fundamental health inequities haven’t disappeared. So how can we apply previous learning to guide further research?
Join us on 31st May from 1pm and contribute to the discussion on the impact of structural and social determinants on risk of morbidity and mortality from respiratory infectious diseases: from conceptual framework to model-building.
Intended learning outcomes:
Attendees will:
(1) understand what the terms structural and social determinants means in the context of infectious disease transmission
(2) have an awareness of the different conceptual frameworks which underpin research into how structural and social determinants drive disparities in risk of exposure, morbidity and mortality of respiratory infectious diseases
(3) be introduced to 2 use case examples of modelling/analytic approach of (i) SARS-CoV-2 and (ii) Mycobaterium tuberculosis
(4) recognise current data and knowledge gaps in this area
